Cheeseburger Macaroni

Cheeseburger Macaroni is a perfectly seasoned one pot meal. It is a great indulgence on a winter day. Make your favorite vegetable for the side!

Cheeseburger Macaroni takes me back to being a collage kid learning how to cook. I would take a box of beefaroni cook it up and call it dinner for a few days. This is a grownup healthier version of that dish. 

I have found that picky children love this dish and it is a guilty pleasure for myself. The montreal seasoning really adds some pizzaz to what would otherwise be a “just ok” dish. 

I originally found this recipe in my Taste of Home Healthy Cooking 2014 Annual Recipes Cookbook.

Let's grocery shop!

I am assuming you have salt and pepper. It is not included in pantry and spices. 

Pantry & Spices

  • ketchup
  • montreal steak seasoning
  • mustard
  • onion powder

Grocery

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic bulb
  • 1 box small elbow pasta
  • 1 box beef broth 32 oz
  • 1/2 gallon milk
  • 1 block cheddar cheese
  • 1 bunch green onions

Let's grocery shop!

I like to combine the beef broth, milk, katsup, steak seasoning, mustard, onion powder in a quart mason jar with a lid in the morning. This makes dinner super fast to put together. 

Let's prep!

Let's cook!

  1. Complete the prep from the prep tab above.
  2. Cook beef and onion until browned crumbling into small pieces. Drain if needed.
  3. Add garlic to beef cooking for 1 minute.
  4. Add to beef and bring to boil:
    • 8 oz macaroni
    • 3 cups beef broth
    • 3/4 cup milk
    • 3 tablespoons ketchup
    • 2 teaspoons Montreal steak seasoning
    • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
    • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  5. Reduce heat leave uncovered 10 – 15 minutes. 
  6. Stir in cheese and top with green onions. Enjoy!
